Care Instructions

for Our Pure Virgin Wool Pieces

Thank you for choosing one of our traditionally handwoven blankets, coats or bags. With a little care, your wool piece will stay beautiful for many years.

Wool is naturally odour-, stain-, and wrinkle-resistant, which means the garments can go a long way between cleanings.  We encourage you to hang your wool blanket outside to air it out once in a while.

General Care

  • Let it breathe
Air your wool item regularly on a hanger or laid flat, away from direct sun. Fresh air helps wool naturally refresh and release light odours.
  • Avoid frequent washing
Pure wool is naturally self-cleaning. Only wash when truly needed — often, airing and spot-cleaning is enough.
  • Keep away from heat
Do not place directly on radiators or near strong heat sources. High heat can shrink or distort wool.

Day-to-Day Use

  • Shake, don’t scrub
For blankets and coats, give them a gentle shake outdoors to remove dust and loose particles.
  • Rotate use
If you use your wool bag or coat daily, try to rotate with another piece to let the fibres relax and keep their shape.
  • Avoid heavy friction
Repeated rubbing (for example from shoulder straps or seat belts) can cause pilling over time. Be mindful of high-friction areas.

Cleaning & Spot Care

  • Spot-clean first
For small stains, dab gently with a clean cloth and cool water. If needed, use a tiny amount of mild wool detergent.
    • Blot, do not rub, to avoid felting the fibres.
  • Never hot wash, never tumble dry
Heat and agitation can shrink and felt wool permanently.
  • Dry cleaning
For coats and heavily soiled pieces, we recommend a trusted dry cleaner experienced with wool. Show them the garment and mention it is pure virgin wool, handwoven.

Drying

  • Reshape while damp
After washing, gently press out excess water with a clean towel (don’t wring).
  • Dry flat
Lay the item flat on a dry towel, away from direct sunlight or heat. Reshape edges and hems with your hands and let it dry slowly.
  • Hang only when fully dry
Blankets and coats can be stored on a hanger once completely dry. Bags can be lightly filled with paper to keep their shape.

Storage

  • Cool, dry, breathable
Store your wool in a cool, dry place. Avoid plastic bags; choose cotton storage bags or breathable boxes.
  • Protect from moths
Clean the item before long-term storage and add natural moth deterrents like cedar blocks or lavender sachets.
  • Fold blankets; support coats
    • Fold blankets and place them on a shelf or in a drawer.
    • Hang coats on wide, padded hangers to support the shoulders.
    • Store bags upright and loosely stuffed to keep their form.

A Note From Our Studio

Each blanket, coat and bag is woven slowly, stitch by stitch, from pure virgin wool. Small variations and a gentle “lived-in” look over time are part of its character. With these simple steps, your piece will age gracefully and remain a cosy, beautiful companion for many seasons to come. 🌿🧶
